From the 9th of next month for 3 days... Exchange of Latest Insights Among Domestic and International Cardiology Experts

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jeonnam National University Hospital (Director Ahn Younggeun) announced on the 24th that it will hold the 20th Gwangju International Cardiology Symposium (GICS) for three days starting from the 9th of next month at the Gwangju Kim Dae-jung Convention Center.
GICS has been held annually in Gwangju since 2003, hosted by the Cardiology Center of Jeonnam National University Hospital.
It is the largest international academic conference in Korea where domestic and international cardiology experts exchange the latest knowledge through lectures and case presentations.
At this conference, Jeonnam National University Hospital, along with Chung-Ang University Hospital, Seoul St. Mary’s Hospital, Ilsan Paik Hospital, Keimyung University Dongsan Hospital, Seoul Asan Hospital, Jeju National University Hospital, and Jeonbuk National University Hospital, will conduct cardiac interventions including percutaneous coronary intervention, percutaneous aortic valve replacement, percutaneous mitral valve reconstruction, and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation procedures through video recordings and live broadcasts.
Additionally, the KAMIR-JAMIR symposium, a joint registry study on acute myocardial infarction between Korea and Japan, Korea-Mayo symposium, Korea-London symposium, Korea-China symposium, and GICS-TAMIS symposium will be held simultaneously. A total of 82 cardiologists from 17 countries including the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Spain, and Greece have been invited to participate in discussions both online and offline.
Domestically, about 1,500 cardiology-related personnel including university hospital and medical school professors, residents, nurses, and medical technicians are expected to participate.
Professor Jung Myungho of the Department of Cardiology at Jeonnam National University Hospital, who leads GICS, said, “The Cardiology Center at Jeonnam National University Hospital, which performs about 3,000 cardiac interventions annually with a 99% success rate, is expected to further enhance the status of Jeonnam National University Hospital through the 20th anniversary of GICS this year.” He added, “GICS will continue to activate domestic and international networks to share medical technology and advance academic fields, providing the best medical services to patients with cardiovascular diseases, and is also expected to greatly contribute to the ongoing establishment of the National Cardiovascular Center.”
