Yeongyang-gun Saemaeul Association carrying out Saemaeul Environment Revival for Carbon Neutrality Practice.
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Gwiyeol] The Saemaeul Association of Yeongyang-gun, Gyeongbuk, carried out the "Saemaeul Environment Revival" project from April 22 to May 20 to promote low-carbon green living for carbon neutrality and to contribute to creating a resource-circulating society where energy circulates by collecting waste resources around daily life.
The Saemaeul Environment Revival, aimed at protecting the rural environment by focusing on collecting waste pesticide bottles, fertilizer bags, scrap metal, and waste paper, which are the main causes of soil pollution, was led by Saemaeul leaders with residents participating.
Through this Saemaeul Environment Revival project, a total of 91 tons were collected, including 2 tons of pesticide bags, 17 tons of pesticide bottles, 45 tons of scrap metal, 9 tons of waste paper, and 18 tons of fertilizer bags, greatly contributing to resource circulation and prevention of environmental pollution.
Additionally, nets and sacks necessary for the project were provided to establish a year-round collection system for recyclables, and the sales proceeds are planned to be used for public projects such as village self-fundraising and sharing love with neighbors.
Going forward, the Yeongyang-gun Saemaeul Association plans to carry out various projects to accelerate carbon neutrality, including free collection of small waste home appliances, ice pack collection, Saemaeul Jogging Day combining reuse, jogging, and large-scale cleaning, and campaigns to use eco-friendly products.
