China Protests US-ROK Summit Taiwan Mention, Declares "No Interference in Internal Affairs Allowed" Wang Wenbin, Spokesperson of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs

[Asia Economy Reporter Bu Aeri] China protested the mention of the importance of maintaining peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait in the joint statement of the South Korea-US summit.

Wang Wenbin, spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said at a regular briefing on the 23rd, "We have already lodged a stern representation with the relevant parties," and stated, "Taiwan is Chinese territory, and the Taiwan issue is purely China's internal affair. We absolutely do not allow any country to interfere in China's internal affairs in any way."

'Lodging a stern representation' refers to a diplomatic protest. It is interpreted that China conveyed its protest to South Korea and the US.

Earlier, the joint statement of the South Korea-US summit held in Seoul on the 21st included the content that "The two leaders emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait as a key element of security and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region."
