October Completion Scheduled for Solarsido Enterprise City Access Road Construction, Emphasis on Thoroughness Requested
[Haenam=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Hyun] On the 19th, Kwak Jun-gil, Acting Governor of Haenam County, Jeonnam, presided over an on-site inspection of the Haenam-Yeongam tourism and leisure-type enterprise city and the construction of the access road.
This on-site inspection is being conducted to ensure seamless county administration by checking the status of key priority projects following the transition to the acting governor system since the 12th, ahead of the June 1 local elections.
The county plans to strengthen on-site administration across the county through inspections of about 20 major project sites and to ensure thorough and speedy project implementation.
As the first step of the on-site inspection, Acting Governor Kwak visited the Solar City enterprise city, held a meeting with President Chae Jeong-seop and related personnel to check the progress of the enterprise city, and visited the access road construction site to urge the completion of the construction without any setbacks.
The construction of the 10.83 km section of the four-lane access road connecting Daejin-ri, Sanim-myeon, Haenam County, and Seoho IC, Samho-eup, Yeongam County, is scheduled to be completed in October this year. The road, which will allow direct access from Solar City enterprise city across Yeongam Lake via a bridge to the Namhae Expressway, is expected to boost the activation of the enterprise city.
The Yeongam-Haenam tourism and leisure-type enterprise city development project, including about 20.9 million square meters (6.32 million pyeong) of the Guseong district covering Guseong-ri, Sanggong-ri, and Deoksong-ri in Sanim-myeon, Haenam County, has an urban vision of a garden city, solar energy city, and smart city, aiming to create a tourism and leisure-type enterprise city with self-sufficient functions such as jobs, tourism, housing, education, and medical care.
It plans to attract a residential population of 36,600 people and 14,640 households, equipped with advanced infrastructure based on beautiful natural environments embracing lakes, seas, and gardens, and clean renewable energy.
In particular, the creation of an eco-friendly renewable energy industrial belt within the Solar City enterprise city in Haenam County has attracted attention as it was selected as one of the 15 key policy tasks for regional balanced development by the new government.
The pledge to create an eco-friendly renewable energy industrial belt involves establishing a carbon-neutral cluster, eco-friendly renewable energy industrial complexes, and power generation complexes within the Solar City enterprise city in Sanim-myeon, Haenam County, and building a smart city based on these.
It is expected that 550 billion KRW in national funds will be invested in the carbon-neutral cluster, 3.35 trillion KRW in private investment for the dedicated industrial complexes and power generation complexes, and 1.524 trillion KRW for the creation of a smart city based on eco-friendly renewable energy.
Solar City enterprise city completed the largest domestic renewable energy industrial complex centered on a solar power plant in 2020, covering about 1.59 million square meters (480,000 pyeong) with a capacity of 98 MW, and last year, the 18-hole Solar City Country Club covering 777,846 square meters (230,000 pyeong) was opened.
Also, last year, it was finally selected for the regional hub smart city creation project hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, planning to invest up to 24 billion KRW over three years to build smart city infrastructure and service bases including electric vehicle sharing services, autonomous shuttle buses, Solar City metaverse implementation, and solar-powered compressed waste treatment facilities. The county plans to establish Solar City enterprise city as the number one carbon-neutral zone through the creation of the largest domestic carbon-neutral education center and a European village theme park.
Acting Governor Kwak Jun-gil said, “Even under the acting governor system, we must prepare steadily for the 8th elected term by carrying out flawless county administration and create an opportunity for a new leap forward,” adding, “Solar City enterprise city has enough potential to be a long-term growth engine for the region, so we will do our best to ensure the project proceeds without any leakage.”
