[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] Cho Eung-cheon, Emergency Response Committee member of the Democratic Party of Korea, criticized voices within the party on the 23rd that labeled Emergency Response Committee Chairperson Park Ji-hyun as ‘internal shooting’.
On this day, Cho appeared on YTN Radio’s ‘News King Park Ji-hoon’ and said, "Honestly, they say Chairperson Park did internal shooting, but what exactly did she shoot?" and added, "I do not acknowledge it. There is nothing she couldn’t do."
He said, "It seems to be because Chairperson Park ordered an investigation into the sexual harassment incident involving Representative Choi Kang-wook, and did not engage in the Democratic Party’s typical protection of our side," adding, "I want to question the continuous calls for double standards."
He continued, "I want to ask whether that helps our party’s reform," and said, "Shouldn’t the Democratic Party be more grateful to Chairperson Park Ji-hyun?"
Regarding the public opinion polls showing candidate Lee Jae-myung, running for the Incheon Gyeyang-eul by-election, trailing behind People Power Party candidate Yoon Hyung-sun, he said, "Honestly, it’s embarrassing and upsetting," adding, "Since the new government’s launch, Biden’s visit to Korea, and the honeymoon period, government and ruling party-centered events have continued, and the Democratic Party has faced continuous adverse factors, creating a disadvantageous situation."
Earlier, Cho maintained a negative stance on Lee’s candidacy. He said, "From the beginning, I have been saying that now is not the time to move."
