[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Seong Gi-seon, candidate for Gyeonggi Province Superintendent of Education, announced on the 23rd, "We will introduce the Gyeonggi Province-style Minerva School to open a new dimension of education in Gyeonggi Province."


The Minerva School is an educational innovation university that conducts 100% online interactive discussion classes without a physical campus, attracting attention. It was established in 2011 and is headquartered in San Francisco, USA.


On the same day, Candidate Seong held a press conference at the Gyeonggi Office of Education to announce his pledge, emphasizing, "Through the Minerva School, we will overcome regional disparities, school disparities, classroom disparities, academic disparities, and private education disparities."


He continued, "The Gyeonggi Province-style Minerva School is to apply the Minerva School's educational method to school sites by promoting student autonomy through expert-led online discussion classes, linking offline experiential learning in related fields, and personalized learning."


In particular, he added, "We will develop online education courses with companies leading cutting-edge IT and digital technological innovation in Pangyo Techno Valley so that any student in Gyeonggi Province can learn without being restricted by time and place."
