[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] A large fire broke out at a golf apparel logistics center in Icheon, Gyeonggi Province, prompting firefighting authorities to take action to extinguish it.
At around 11:40 a.m. on the 23rd, a fire of unknown cause broke out at the Chris F&C logistics center in Ipyeong-ri, Majang-myeon, Icheon City. According to logistics center officials, 134 workers safely evacuated immediately after the fire started, and no casualties have been confirmed so far.
The logistics center where the fire occurred is a four-story building with a total floor area of approximately 14,600 square meters. It is understood that 3 million golf apparel items were stored inside. Due to the large amount of flammable materials inside the building, the flames spread rapidly, resulting in a major fire. The cause of the fire and the initial ignition point have not been disclosed.
Sixteen minutes after the fire broke out, at 11:56 a.m., the fire department issued Response Level 1, a full alarm that mobilizes all personnel from the local fire station. They deployed 45 pieces of equipment, including pump trucks, and over 100 firefighters to carry out firefighting operations. A fire official stated, "Because there is a large amount of clothing inside the logistics center, it is expected to take some time to fully extinguish the fire." The fire department plans to conduct a search for casualties once the firefighting operations are completed.
