[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Dae-yeol] BMW Korea announced that pre-orders for the new model of the high-performance 4-door coupe M850i xDrive Gran Coupe will begin on the 1st of next month.
The new car is a facelift model of the existing 8 Series, characterized by a sleek coupe shape despite its large body and dynamic driving performance. A U-shaped bar is placed inside the front radiator grille frame, and the iconic glow creates a lighting effect that seems to pour from top to bottom inside the grille. The side mirrors designed exclusively for the M8, the M badge on the grille, and 20-inch double-spoke two-tone wheels indicate that it is a high-performance model. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the BMW M brand, and a classic motorsport emblem will be applied to a limited quantity.
The interior is finished to emphasize luxury as well as dynamic driving performance. The upper display of the center fascia has been increased to 12.3 inches. It is equipped with a 4.4L V8 M TwinPower gasoline engine producing a maximum output of 530 horsepower and a maximum torque of 76.5 kg·m, paired with an 8-speed Steptronic Sport automatic transmission. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds. Advanced driving assistance features such as BMW Laserlight and premium convenience features like 4-zone air conditioning are included.
The official launch is scheduled for July, and the limited edition First Edition will also be introduced through the BMW Shop Online, the company said. The expected price is around 140 million KRW, and pre-orders or inquiries can be made at BMW showrooms nationwide. Meanwhile, the company plans to hold the BMW Excellence Lounge event from the 25th until the end of this month, where the new car and the new 7 Series to be released in the second half of the year will be unveiled for the first time.
