[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Gyumin] The police have decided to conduct a written investigation of First Lady Kim Keon-hee, wife of President Yoon Seok-yeol, regarding allegations of 'false credentials.'

The Anti-Corruption and Public Crime Investigation Unit of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency announced on the 23rd that they sent a written questionnaire after coordinating with Kim's legal representatives concerning the complaints filed by civic groups.

On December 23 of last year, the National Movement Headquarters for Private School Reform and Eradication of Corruption and the Institute for Livelihood Economy Research filed a complaint accusing Kim of fraud and other charges, stating that she deceived higher education institutions and students with over 20 instances of false and fabricated credentials.

In response, Kim held a press conference on the 26th of the same month, apologizing for inaccurately listing and exaggerating some parts of her credentials during the university lecturer application process.

Earlier, in February of last year, the Anti-Corruption and Public Crime Investigation Unit of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency also decided to conduct a written investigation instead of a summons regarding a case filed by civic groups accusing Kim of violating the Public Official Election Act by allegedly saying in a phone call with a media outlet, "If done well, I can even give 100 million won as a reward."
