Jungnang-gu Myeonmok Administrative Complex Town Accelerates Integrated Development Project Before and After Views of Hansarang Village Apartment Demolition

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] The integrated development project of the Myeonmok Administrative Complex Town in Jungnang-gu is progressing smoothly.

Jungnang-gu announced the official start of the integrated development by completing the demolition work of Hansarang Village Apartment and the parking lot on the 18th.

With this demolition work, the inconvenience of local residents concerned about the area becoming a high-crime zone and safety accidents in the Hansarang Village Apartment, which has been managed as a vacant property after all residents moved out, is expected to be resolved.

The Myeonmok Administrative Complex Town construction project is an integrated development project linked with the redevelopment of old public office buildings around Yongmasan Station to revitalize the area. The schematic design competition is currently underway, and the winning design will be selected on June 17 to begin the design service.

The main project includes constructing a complex building combining a community center and a resident center, a youth training center, public housing (702 units), retail facilities, and a public parking lot, with a total floor area of 109,407㎡. Construction is scheduled to start in December next year and be completed by December 2027.

The district expects the project to expand infrastructure encompassing local administration, culture, and welfare, activate the Yongmasan station area functions, improve living conditions for residents, and lead to balanced development in the Myeonmok-dong area.

A district official said, “With the demolition of Hansarang Village Apartment completed and the schematic design competition progressing smoothly, the project is now on track. We will continue to do our best to ensure the project is successfully promoted through mutual cooperation with Seoul City and SH Corporation.”

Gangseo-gu, Seoul (Mayor Noh Hyun-song) has begun drafting the redevelopment plan for Banghwa 2 District to create a pleasant residential environment.

On the 23rd, the district held a ‘Banghwa 2 District Redevelopment Promotion Plan Establishment Service Kick-off Meeting’ at the district office’s main conference room, attended by Mayor Noh Hyun-song and about 10 project stakeholders.

KTS Engineering and AB Line Architects, commissioned for this service, analyzed current issues and local conditions, presented the basic direction, and announced the future implementation plan (draft).

Banghwa 2 District is a low-rise residential area covering 35,390㎡ at 589-13 Banghwa-dong.

Since being designated as Banghwa New Town in 2003, the project had stalled due to changes in the housing market and conflicts among residents, but it found a breakthrough last year after being selected through the ‘Housing Redevelopment Project Candidate Site Contest.’

The district plans to form a resident participation group from the early planning stage and promote a redevelopment project harmonized with surrounding areas by continuously communicating and consulting to include what residents truly need.

Mayor Noh Hyun-song said, “We expect a high-quality outcome that improves residents’ quality of life and enhances urban competitiveness by sufficiently collecting local residents’ opinions. Since the project has been delayed for a long time, please do your best to ensure the redevelopment proceeds swiftly.”

Guro-gu (Mayor Lee Sung) has installed eco-friendly insect repellent sprayers to help residents enjoy nature in a safe and pleasant environment.

Guro-gu announced on the 23rd, “With the recent easing of social distancing policies, outdoor activities by residents have increased. To prevent insect-borne infectious diseases, we have installed additional insect repellent sprayers this year following last year.”

A total of 11 sprayers have been installed at 10 locations, mainly along riversides, parks, and walking trails frequently visited by residents.

Newly installed locations this year include around the restroom at Gocheok Neighborhood Park, next to the dust remover at Maebongsan Jatjeol Park, and the entrance to the hiking trail at Gaewoongsan Neighborhood Park.

This project was carried out with a resident participation budget of 10 million KRW. Especially, Gaewoongsan Neighborhood Park, which received positive resident feedback and has many users, had an additional sprayer installed opposite the location installed last year.

Locations where sprayers were installed last year include in front of the management office at Cheonwangsan Family Camping Site (Hang-dong 149-1), in front of the restroom at the old Cheonwangsan Neighborhood Park (Cheonwang-dong 276), in front of the restroom at the hiking trail entrance of Gaewoongsan Neighborhood Park (Gaebong-dong 297-27), the Anyangcheon Cherry Blossom Road Sindorim Observatory (between Sinjeong Bridge and Ogeum Bridge), the Guheon Observatory (between Ogeum Bridge and Gocheok Bridge), the Guil Observatory (between Gocheok Bridge and Anyang Bridge), and near the dust remover in front of restrooms in Street Park Zones 1 and 2 (Guro-dong 50), totaling eight locations.

The insect repellent sprayers will operate until November and are available for use by any residents visiting the locations. Spraying on outerwear or mats, excluding the face and neck, can prevent insect approach for 3 to 4 hours.

A Guro-gu official said, “Severe Fever with Thrombocytopenia Syndrome (SFTS) virus often lacks treatments and vaccines, so prevention is best. Residents should actively use insect repellents during outdoor activities and wear long sleeves and pants to minimize exposed areas.”

Meanwhile, SFTS, mainly transmitted by ticks during outdoor activities, has an incubation period of 1 to 2 weeks after a bite, followed by symptoms such as high fever above 38℃, vomiting, and diarrhea. In severe cases, it causes serious conditions such as thrombocytopenia, leukopenia, and sepsis.

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Mapo-gu announced that it has opened an online portal for road occupancy permit applications.

Last year, Mapo-gu processed about 3,300 road occupancy permits, and frequent applications for temporary occupancy permits of less than one year continue this year.

However, the previous application methods via visits, fax, and email required multiple visits to the district office and phone calls to confirm receipt, causing inconvenience.

To improve this, the district established an online application portal on the Mapo-gu Office website, allowing applicants to check the entire process from application to permit issuance at once.

Online applications can be made after identity verification through the Mapo-gu Office website under ‘Communication and Participation > Online Reservation/Application > Integrated Online Application > Road Occupancy Permit Application.’

Applicants can apply not only for new permits but also for changes, succession, extension of period, and restoration. After application, the responsible officer reviews the application and sends a receipt message to the applicant. The processing result and permit can be received by visit, registered mail, fax, or email, as chosen by the applicant.

Detailed information is available in the notices section of the Mapo-gu Office website.

A district official said, “We expect increased convenience for applicants through diversified application methods for road occupancy permits. We will also do our best to promote non-face-to-face permit applications to help create an environment that prevents infectious diseases.”
