[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Junho] On the 21st, the solar term "Soman," which marks the threshold of summer, and the holiday on the 22nd, the Gwangju and Jeonnam regions are expected to experience hot weather with strong sunlight.
According to the Gwangju Regional Meteorological Administration on the 21st, due to the influence of a high-pressure system over the western sea of Jeju Island, strong sunlight is expected, and warm westerly winds blowing along the edge of this high pressure will cause temperatures to rise.
On this day, the daytime high temperatures will range from 23 to 30 degrees Celsius, with Suncheon, Gwangyang, and Gangjin reaching up to 30 degrees, exceeding the average (22.6 to 26.6 degrees Celsius).
As the heated lower air meets the cool and dry upper air, clouds will develop at high altitudes, and some areas in the eastern part of Jeonnam may experience showers.
However, since the lower atmosphere is very dry, rain falling from the shower clouds may evaporate before reaching the ground in some areas, causing differences in precipitation amounts depending on the region. The expected precipitation is 5 to 20 mm.
The Meteorological Administration forecasts that on the 22nd, the morning low temperature will be 12 to 17 degrees Celsius, and the daytime high temperature will rise further to 25 to 33 degrees Celsius.
A Meteorological Administration official said, "As the cloud bands develop at high altitudes, gusts, thunder and lightning, and hail may accompany the weather, so it is advisable to prepare in advance for safety accidents," and added, "Please frequently check the weather information that will be announced going forward."
