According to CBS News and others on the 20th (local time), a dispute broke out around 10:40 PM the previous night at a McDonald's near Michigan Avenue on the Magnificent Mile shopping street in downtown Chicago, which escalated into a shooting.
Of the 9 people shot, 2 men died. Among the remaining injured, a teenage male is reported to be in critical condition.
The shooter immediately fled to the subway platform across the street but was eventually apprehended by the police. The police confirmed that the firearm was also seized. The shooter's specific identity and the cause of the shooting have not yet been disclosed.
