[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyun-joo] Park Ji-hyun, co-chair of the Emergency Response Committee of the Democratic Party of Korea, urged Kim Eun-hye, the People Power Party candidate for Gyeonggi Province governor, to voluntarily resign following reports of alleged KT employment solicitation. She also warned Minister of Justice Han Dong-hoon to order a thorough investigation into the allegations against Kim.

On the 20th, at the central election committee meeting held at the office of Heo Tae-jung, Democratic Party candidate for Daejeon mayor in Seo-gu, Daejeon, Park said, "Reports have emerged that Kim, while serving as an executive director at KT, solicited employment for her husband's relative," adding, "According to the ruling on the KT employment solicitation case involving former People Power Party floor leader Kim Sung-tae, KT passed a candidate named Kim, who had received BCD grades in the competency evaluation and initially failed, for the interview based on Kim Eun-hye's recommendation."

Park then called on Kim to voluntarily resign. She stated, "Employment solicitation is what angers young people in their 20s and 30s the most. The dreams of youth who believed the world was fair and employment would be based on merit have been shattered by Kim's solicitation," and added, "Kim denied having made any solicitation and threatened to sue the Democratic Party, but I believe Kim herself admitted to the solicitation during the prosecution's investigation. Despite Kim's confession, the prosecution did not investigate her."

Addressing Minister Han, she said, "Minister Han, who claims to be the fairest in the world, should order a thorough investigation into Kim and others involved in KT employment solicitation," emphasizing, "Otherwise, the prosecution will face criticism as the most biased political prosecution in history."

Meanwhile, Kim denied the KT employment solicitation allegations. At a Kwanhun Club debate held at the Press Center in Jung-gu, Seoul, the previous day, Kim said, "I have never been involved in any unfair hiring as reported. The person mentioned was never hired by KT," adding, "It is very regrettable to make false claims about the opponent on the first day of the election campaign."
