[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] On Friday the 20th, the whole country will be mostly cloudy with scattered showers in some areas.
The Korea Meteorological Administration forecasted that due to the influence of a northern trough, less than 5mm of rain will fall from noon to evening in northern Gyeonggi and northwestern Gangwon Yeongseo, while the Seoul metropolitan area and central to southern Gangwon Yeongseo will experience raindrops of less than 0.1mm. On Jeju Island, less than 5mm of rain is expected during the day due to the influence of a southern trough.
As temperatures rise due to sunlight and the atmosphere becomes unstable, showers of less than 5mm are expected in eastern Jeonbuk and inland Jeonnam in the afternoon.
On the afternoon of the 21st, thunderstorms and lightning accompanied by showers will occur in the southern mountainous areas of Gangwon, eastern Jeolla, northeastern mountainous areas of Gyeongbuk, and some inland areas of Gyeongsang. The expected precipitation is around 5mm.
As of 7 a.m., temperatures in major areas are Seoul 16.6°C, Incheon 16.1°C, Suwon 16.1°C, Chuncheon 12.0°C, Gangneung 19.6°C, Cheongju 16.7°C, Andong 14.8°C, Daejeon 15.4°C, Jeonju 16.4°C, Daegu 18.2°C, Ulsan 17.9°C, Busan 18.7°C, Changwon 15.7°C, Gwangju 17.5°C, Yeosu 16.9°C, and Jeju 19.7°C.
The highest daytime temperatures will be Seoul and Jeonju 26°C, Incheon 22°C, Suwon and Changwon 25°C, Gangneung, Cheongju, Daejeon, Daegu, and Pohang 28°C, Andong and Ulsan 27°C, and Busan, Mokpo, and Jeju 23°C.
Temperatures will remain higher than average (morning 10~15°C, daytime 22~27°C) for the time being, and the temperature difference between day and night will be very large, around 15~20°C, especially inland.
From tonight through Saturday morning, dense fog with visibility less than 200 meters will occur along the west coast. Caution is advised to prevent collision accidents while driving.
The Korea Meteorological Administration issued a preliminary storm warning for the outer southern sea of Jeju Island and the outer eastern sea of the South Sea on the night of the 20th. Winds will blow strongly at 9~16 m/s, and waves will be very high at 2~4 meters.
