Muan Lotus Festival 'Nice to Meet You in Person After 3 Years'

[Muan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Oh Hwan-joo] Muan County announced that the 25th Muan Lotus Festival will be held for four days from July 21 to 24 at Hoesan Baekryeonji in Iro-eup.

Hoesan Baekryeonji, where the Muan Lotus Festival will take place, has continuously transformed to become a healing space and a year-round tourist attraction.

The symbol of Hoesan Baekryeonji, the floating glass greenhouse, has been remodeled to include the Baekryeon Cafe on the first floor, and the second floor has been developed into a botanical garden rest area to offer visitors a panoramic view of the vast lotus pond.

To provide not only the beauty of the white lotus flowers revealed among the green lotus leaves but also various attractions, flower gardens featuring zinnias, roses, and hydrangeas have been created, and a new petting zoo and children's playground have been established so that children can enjoy diverse experiences and play in nature.

The county is ambitiously preparing new sights and activities to fill the hot summer with coolness for the Muan Lotus Festival, which will be held again after three years at the transformed Hoesan Baekryeonji.

First, a lotus media facade stage will be installed around the water play area, where children can enjoy water play during the day, and an EDM (Electronic Dance Music) party will be held at night for adults who want to enjoy the summer evenings.

Additionally, on the first floor of the local food hall completed in December 2020, a convenience store and restaurant have been set up for tourists, and on the second floor, an immersive video theme hall centered on the lotus, an exhibition room with over 1,500 scholar's rocks, and various experiential events for children will be operated.

Moreover, this year's Muan Lotus Festival will feature lotus path boat explorations, diverse functional experience events themed around lotus, a lotus cooking contest, and side events such as children's writing and drawing contests.

Park Il-sang, chairman of the festival promotion committee, said, "I hope the Muan Lotus Festival, held face-to-face for the first time in three years, will bring comfort to the residents and tourists who have endured difficult times due to COVID-19," and added, "We will prepare thoroughly for a successful lotus festival."
