Taiwan's Cumulative COVID-19 Cases Surpass 1 Million... 90,000 New Infections

[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jinyoung] Taiwan's cumulative number of COVID-19 infections has surpassed 1 million.


Taiwan's health authorities announced on the 19th that the daily new infections are 90,378, with 59 deaths.


As a result, Taiwan's cumulative COVID-19 infections have reached 1,070,561. The cumulative death toll is 1,235.


With a population of about 23 million, Taiwan was regarded as a 'model quarantine country,' recording about 17,000 cumulative infections and 850 deaths over two years until the end of last year. However, infections appear to have rapidly spread since the end of March.
