[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] The Nam-gu Health Center in Gwangju is reopening after more than two years and three months.
Nam-gu announced on the 19th, "With the decrease in COVID-19 confirmed cases and the lifting of mandatory social distancing measures, the health center, which had temporarily suspended its operations to fully respond to COVID-19, will resume its services starting from the 23rd."
This follows the adjustment of the COVID-19 infectious disease classification to level 2 and the transition to a phased post-Omicron response policy.
The resumption of general services at the Nam-gu Health Center comes 820 days after it closed on February 24, 2020. With the restart of various civil service operations such as medical treatment and issuance of certificates, it is expected to support the return to normal life and minimize inconvenience to residents.
Residents in the district will be able to use various services provided by the health center, including general medical treatments such as internal medicine, dentistry, Korean medicine, and physical therapy, as well as health examination certificates (health certificates), general health checkup certificates, driver's license aptitude tests, chest X-rays, and issuance of various certificates.
In particular, it will become much easier to use various tests such as health examinations, driver's license aptitude tests, and other certificate issuances, while significantly reducing related costs.
Additionally, residents can freely participate in oral health, smoking cessation, alcohol moderation projects, and dementia patient management programs aimed at improving health, as well as various health lifestyle support programs conducted at the Juwol Health Living Support Center and Wolsan Health Living Support Center.
A Nam-gu official stated, "Ahead of the 23rd, the date marking the transition from the COVID-19 emergency response system to the general medical response system, we will do our best to reorganize the organization so that the health center’s core tasks such as general medical treatment and certificate issuance proceed smoothly, providing the best health administration civil services."
