[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyung-min] Song Kyung-ho, a prosecutor at Suwon High Prosecutors' Office (age 52, Judicial Research and Training Institute class 29), was appointed as the Chief Prosecutor of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office in the high-ranking prosecutor personnel reshuffle conducted on the 18th.

Newly appointed Chief Prosecutor Song graduated from Seoul Jungdong High School and Seoul National University Law School, and began his career as a prosecutor at the Busan District Prosecutors' Office. He is considered one of the representative 'special investigation' prosecutors within the prosecution. He has served as the Deputy Director of the Crime Information Division 2 at the Supreme Prosecutors' Office, Head of the Special Investigation Division at Suwon District Prosecutors' Office, and led the investigation into former Minister Cho Kuk's family allegations as the 3rd Deputy Chief Prosecutor at the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office. Previously, he also investigated cases such as former President Lee Myung-bak's bribery and breach of trust, and the Samsung Biologics accounting fraud case. After investigating former Minister Cho in 2019, he was demoted in the subsequent personnel reshuffle and worked as the Chief Prosecutor of the Yeoju Branch of Suwon District Prosecutors' Office and as a prosecutor at Suwon High Prosecutors' Office.

With his inauguration as Chief Prosecutor of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office, the legal community is focusing on whether the investigation into the lobbying and preferential treatment allegations surrounding the Daejang-dong urban development project will resume. Additionally, attention is also on the direction of investigations into the Deutsche Motors stock manipulation case, in which First Lady Kim Geon-hee, wife of President Yoon, is suspected to be involved.
