Jang Seok-woong, Candidate for Jeonnam Superintendent of Education, Promotes 'Comprehensive Education Recovery Project' Jang Seok-woong, Candidate for Jeonnam Superintendent of Education

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jun-kyung] Jang Seok-woong, candidate for Jeonnam Superintendent of Education, announced on the 18th that he will carry out the 'Jeonnam Education Recovery Comprehensive Project' to restore the basic academic skills, psychological and emotional well-being, social skills, and physical health of students affected by COVID-19.

According to Jang Seok-woong's campaign office, the 'Basic Academic Skills Dedicated Teacher System' will be further expanded by target group, and an 'Instructional Cooperation Lecturer System' will be introduced for elementary and secondary schools to strengthen individualized customized guidance.

Candidate Jang Seok-woong stated, "Creativity and critical thinking skills are core competencies for living in the future society, and what supports these is precisely basic academic skills. Without basic academic skills, future core competencies are like a house of cards, and in self-directed learning and life, basic academic skills are the framework and muscles."

In particular, comprehensive diagnosis of students' learning deficits will be strengthened, and supplementary learning guidance by subject and level will be enhanced. To this end, elementary schools will operate the 'Learning Takeoff Program,' middle schools the 'Learning Ability Growth 3UP,' and high schools the 'Academic Level-Up Program.'

Additionally, students' emotional and psychological states will be measured to operate a social skills evaluation program, alongside psychological treatment and healing support. Visiting cultural and artistic programs such as theater and musicals will also be strengthened, and a physical health program called 'Fitness UP! Obesity DOWN' will be conducted.

There are also plans to actively create an educational environment for the future era. By introducing AI assistant teachers and establishing the Jeonnam Student Big Data Center, individualized customized programs for students will be operated. Conditions will be prepared for an environment where remote classes such as digital education are always possible, and educational methods reflecting the characteristics of the MZ generation will be explored.

Candidate Jang Seok-woong said, "In the case of Jeonnam, the proportion of students receiving private education is the lowest in the country, so the role of public education is all the more important," and added, "Through the 'Jeonnam Education Recovery Comprehensive Project,' we will comprehensively care for the basic academic skills, psychological and emotional well-being, social skills, and physical health recovery of Jeonnam students."
