[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] Professor Heeseung Lee (Advisor Professor Gusang Kim) of the Breast Surgery Department at Kosin University Gospel Hospital received the Excellent Oral Presentation Award from the Korean Society of Surgical Ultrasound.
Professor Lee was awarded for presenting “Ultrasonic findings after volume replacement oncoplastic breast conserving surgery using acellular dermal matrix” at the Spring Academic Conference of the Korean Society of Surgical Ultrasound held on May 15th this year at the Samjung Hotel in Seoul.
The award was given based on the presentation of ultrasonic findings useful for tracking local recurrence of breast cancer and a research plan using shear wave elastography after performing volume replacement oncoplastic breast conserving surgery, a latest surgical method that creates symmetrical and natural breast shapes in early breast cancer patients, thereby improving postoperative quality of life and cosmetic satisfaction.
The Breast Surgery Team at Kosin University Hospital was the first in the region to introduce the latest surgical methods such as robotic surgery and vacuum-assisted breast biopsy for microcalcifications to enhance cosmetic satisfaction along with breast cancer treatment, and continues to conduct academic research to ensure safety while increasing patient satisfaction.
In July last year, they also received the Best Paper Award among 60 teams at the Seoul International Society of Surgical Oncology for their presentation on stereotactic biopsy, recognizing their nationwide competitiveness as a regional university hospital.
