[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Taemin] The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on the 18th that it will hold the ‘2022 Smart Construction Challenge’ to discover and activate innovative smart construction technologies incorporating digital technology.
Now in its third year, the Smart Construction Challenge is divided into a total of nine categories, including five technical competition fields: ▲Smart Safety ▲Construction Automation in Complexes and Housing ▲Smart Technology in Roads ▲Design BIM (Building Information Modeling) in SOC fields such as railroads ▲BIM Use Live (Construction BIM), and four additional contest fields: ▲Public Contest for Excellence in National Land Safety Management (Construction and Facilities) ▲Open Smart Construction Contest ▲Smart Construction R&D Proposal Contest ▲Smart Construction Startup Idea Contest.
The Korea Institute of Civil Engineering and Building Technology, Korea Land and Housing Corporation, Korea Expressway Corporation, Korea National Railway, National Land Safety Management Institute, and Korea Agency for Infrastructure Technology Advancement will share roles and oversee competitions by category. Winners of outstanding technologies will receive the Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Award and public institution head awards, along with a total prize of 390 million KRW, and various special benefits will be provided to rapidly spread smart construction technologies.
The application deadline is until 6 PM on the 24th of next month. Application forms can be downloaded from the Smart Construction Challenge website.
Kim Youngguk, Director of Technology Safety Policy at the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, said, “Through this competition, we will actively support companies possessing smart construction technologies to further accelerate the field application of excellent technologies.”
