[Asia Economy Reporter Chunhee Lee] The National Cancer Center is launching cancer patient care linked to healing agriculture based in the local community.
On the 18th, the National Cancer Center announced that it would begin full-scale activities, including holding an entrance ceremony for the 'Horticultural Healing Program' in the conference room on the 3rd floor of the new annex of the affiliated hospital the day before.
This program, aimed at healing cancer patients, will be conducted over a total of 12 weeks from the 17th until August 2nd. The National Cancer Center and Goyang City Agricultural Technology Center plan to promote positive emotions in cancer patients through this program and verify the emotional and physical healing effects linked to agricultural resources. Additionally, participants in the program will have the opportunity to confirm the possibility of social reintegration and broaden their professional insights.
The National Cancer Center has been operating various healing agriculture programs in cooperation with the local community, starting with a pilot project for win-win cooperation in healing agriculture conducted with the Gyeonggi-do Agricultural and Marine Products Promotion Agency in 2020, and last year promoted healing agriculture-linked care programs with Goyang City.
Seo Hong-gwan, director of the National Cancer Center, said, “As the survival rate of cancer patients exceeds 70%, community cooperation is necessary for the social reintegration of cancer patients,” adding, “We will continue to contribute to the physical and emotional healing and social reintegration of cancer patients by linking various programs with the local community.”
