Korean Archery's Strong Start... Compound Qualifiers Advance with 'Golden Aim' The 2022 Gwangju Archery World Cup will be held for six days from the 17th to the 22nd, starting with the men's and women's compound preliminary rounds.

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] The South Korean team made a smooth start at the Gwangju 2022 Archery World Cup.

On the 17th, at the Gwangju International Archery Field, the South Korean team all achieved first place in the compound men's and women's team events and mixed team qualification rounds.

In the compound team events, the men's team scored 2114 points and the women's team scored 2085 points, securing the top position.

In the mixed team event, Kim Jong-ho and Kim Yoon-hee participated and shot 1407 points, showing great performance.

In the individual events, male archer Kim Yoon-ho and female archer Kim Yoon-hee scored 709 and 698 points respectively, advancing through the qualifiers in second place.

They achieved excellent results in all compound categories and advanced to the finals.

Starting on the 18th with the compound team event, the individual event will be held on the 19th, and the mixed team round of 16 matches will take place on the 20th.

The next day, the recurve qualification round is scheduled. Archers will shoot 72 arrows at a target 70 meters away (perfect score 720 points).

South Korea is sending a total of 16 players, including 2020 Tokyo Olympic stars An San and Kim Je-deok, raising expectations for the tournament's success.

The Archery World Cup is considered one of the three major international archery competitions along with the Summer Olympics and the World Archery Championships.

It is held five times annually in major countries across continents, selecting the top 8 archers in each category (recurve and compound individual events) from the first to fourth stages to compete in the final round at the fifth stage (Mexico).

Since South Korean players did not participate in the first stage due to the national team selection schedule, their qualification for the final round depends on their results from the second to fourth stages.

At this second stage held in Gwangju, 270 players from 38 countries are competing fiercely.
