Same-Day Vaccination Available at Contracted Medical Institutions and Eup/Myeon Health Centers
[Wando=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Kyung-pil] Wando-gun, Jeollanam-do, has been operating a “visiting vaccination” service since last year to eliminate the inconvenience for elderly residents in island areas with poor transportation to travel to medical institutions and to increase vaccination rates.
According to the county on the 17th, the “visiting vaccination” service involves a vaccination team composed of doctors and nurses directly visiting island areas to administer vaccines.
Until last year, 441 residents of eight uninhabited islands received vaccinations.
This year, on the 3rd, 38 people received the 4th vaccine dose at Modo Health Clinic, and on the 11th, 122 people received it at Cheongsan Health Subcenter. On the 18th and 19th, the visiting vaccination service plans to target residents of Cheongsan Yeoseodo and Gunoe Sahudo.
It is estimated that a total of about 370 residents will receive the 4th vaccine dose through this visiting vaccination service.
Meanwhile, as of the 16th, the 4th COVID-19 vaccination rate is 13.3% in Jeollanam-do and 19% in Wando-gun.
The 4th vaccine dose is for those aged 60 or older (born on or before December 31, 1962) who have completed the 3rd COVID-19 vaccination at least four months (120 days) ago. COVID-19 confirmed patients can receive the vaccine only after three months from the confirmation date.
The vaccines administered are mRNA (Pfizer, Moderna) or Novavax. Those who wish to be vaccinated can receive the vaccine on the same day at designated medical institutions or town and township health subcenters without prior reservation.
Lee Ki-seok, Director of Health Administration at Wando County Health and Medical Center, urged, “The visiting vaccination service is conducted to improve accessibility for island residents, so we ask everyone to actively participate in the 4th vaccination opportunity.”
