Korean Bookstore Association Federation, Recruiting Students for 2022 Bookstore School


[Asia Economy Reporter Seomideum] The Korea Federation of Bookstore Cooperatives is recruiting students for the ‘46th Bookstore School of 2022.’


The Bookstore School is a free educational program where participants can attend various lectures related to bookstore startup and management, including introduction, startup trends, marketing, and case studies. This year, the 46th session welcomes students in the first half of the year.


The 46th Bookstore School will begin its first session on Wednesday, June 8, and will be held every Wednesday for four weeks, with 2 to 3 lectures per session, totaling 8 lectures and discussions. Following last year, it will be conducted via online live streaming.


The curriculum includes ▲Everything about bookstores A to Z (Son Jaewan, former CEO of Youngpoong Bookstore) ▲Bookstore-related policies and startup trends (Baek Wongeun, Director of Book and Society Research Institute) ▲Bookstore startup case ‘The bookstore startup that could no longer be postponed’ (Hong Jinil, CEO of Joichaekgam) ▲Bookstore promotion marketing and online store (Jung Hyunju, CEO of Bookstore Lisbon) ▲Bookstore management tax and book supply (Lee Cheoljae, CEO of Chaekingam) ▲Bookstore closure case ‘Today, I closed the bookstore’ (Song Eunjeong, author) ▲Book curation and cultural programs (Koo Seona, CEO of Bookstore Yeonhui) ▲Bookstore management case ‘From bookstore clerk to professional manager’ (Kim Kyunghee, professional manager of Okilo Books). The program is designed to provide comprehensive knowledge and practical skills for bookstore startup and operation, featuring instructors who are experts and bookstore CEOs from various fields of publishing, distribution, and bookstores.


The final session of this course will feature a discussion on the topic ‘What is cultural program planning as a bookstore-like bookstore?’ moderated by Jung Nayoung, CEO of Business Research. Presenters include Lee Byungjin, team leader of Jinju Bookstore, Cha Kyunghee, CEO of Goyo Seosa, and Hong Jiyoung, CEO of Dazzling Books, who will each present and participate as panelists in the discussion.


Applications can be made by downloading the application form from the Korea Federation of Bookstore Cooperatives website notice board, filling it out, and sending it via email or fax, or by using the online form. The deadline for student registration is midnight on June 3.


The person in charge of the Bookstore School stated, “The 2022 Bookstore School curriculum was designed based on a preliminary survey conducted with previous graduates before planning, and it consists of various lectures on actual cases of bookstore startup, closure, management, online stores, and cultural program planning. We ask for much interest and participation in this education.”
