[Asia Economy Reporter Chunhee Lee] Hanmi Pharm and the Korea Association of Small and Medium Hospitals announced on the 17th that Jeong Young-ho, director of Hallym Hospital (65), was selected as the recipient of the 16th Hanmi Small and Medium Hospital Volunteer Award jointly established by the two organizations. Director Jeong will receive a plaque and a prize of 10 million won.


Director Jeong has served as the president of the Korea Hospital Association and the Korea Association of Small and Medium Hospitals, working to improve the management conditions of small and medium hospitals and the medical delivery system. He was also recognized for his efforts at the forefront of the hospital sector to prevent the spread of COVID-19 infectious disease and to restore damages to medical institutions.


Director Jeong graduated from Jeonbuk National University College of Medicine and has served as a member of the Ministry of Health and Welfare Central Emergency Medical Committee, president of the Korea Medical Foundation Federation, president of the Korea Association of Small and Medium Hospitals, and president of the Korea Hospital Association.


The 16th Hanmi Small and Medium Hospital Award ceremony will be held on the 18th together with the 32nd regular general meeting of the Korea Association of Small and Medium Hospitals at the Best Western Seoul Garden Hotel.


Established in 2007, the Hanmi Small and Medium Hospital Volunteer Award is given to directors and chairpersons of small and medium hospitals who have contributed to improving the health of local community residents and the development of healthcare. In addition to the Volunteer Award, separate Merit Awards and Contribution Awards are presented to medical staff, public officials, hospital workers, and journalists who have contributed to the development of the medical field.


The recipients of the Merit Award, each receiving a plaque and a prize of 2 million won, are ▲ Park Hyo-soon, deputy director of the Policy and Society Department at Kyunghyang Shinmun, and Lee Chang-jin, reporter at Medical Times (media category) ▲ Lim Seung-kwan, director of Anseong Hospital, Gyeonggi Provincial Medical Center (public category) ▲ Jang Sung-in, associate professor of Preventive Medicine at Yonsei University (academic category).


Similarly, recipients of the newly established Contribution Award this year will each receive a plaque and a prize of 2 million won. The awardees are ▲ Kim Hyung-seok, head of the COVID-19 dedicated team at Osan Korea Hospital (doctor category) ▲ Kim Hye-jung, head of External Cooperation Team at Hongik Hospital (nurse category) ▲ Park Sang-rae, head of Facility Management Team at Incheon Sejong Hospital (medical support category).
