4%p Increase in Education Office Confirmed Cases Compared to Seoul City
[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] The number of student COVID-19 cases reported in Seoul over the past week slightly increased to 3,647 compared to the previous week.
On the 17th, the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education reported that the number of student cases from May 9 to 15 was 3,647, an increase of 810 from the previous week (2,837). During the same period, the number of confirmed cases among staff was 517, up 162 from the previous week (355).
The number of student cases sharply dropped from the high 20,000s about a month ago to around 3,000. The number of student cases over the past four weeks were ▲April 11-17: 28,366 ▲April 18-24: 9,638 ▲April 25-May 3: 5,113 ▲May 2-8: 2,837 ▲May 9-15: 3,647.
The proportion of confirmed cases reported by the education office compared to the total cases in Seoul over the past week was 11.7%, an increase of 4.0 percentage points from the previous week (7.7%).
The incidence rate per 10,000 students was 40.2, up from 31.1 the previous week but down from 56.2 two weeks ago.
By school level, middle school students had the highest incidence rate at 47.5, followed by elementary students at 40.5, high school students at 40.3, and kindergarten at 15.9.
Two weeks ago, elementary students had the highest incidence rate, but over the past two weeks, middle school students have had a higher incidence rate.
