[Asia Economy Reporter Jin-ho Kim] The Federation of Korean Industries (FKI) expressed great welcome on the 17th to the recent Japanese government’s announcement of the exemption from quarantine obligations for Koreans entering Japan.

In a statement released that day, the FKI evaluated, "The previous three-day quarantine obligation imposed on our citizens upon entering Japan had been the biggest obstacle to Korea-Japan economic cooperation, so this measure is seen as a major breakthrough in strengthening economic cooperation between the two countries."

It added, "We hope this will lead to expanded exchanges and improved relations between Korea and Japan," emphasizing the need for further activation of mutual human exchanges, such as lifting the suspension of visa exemptions between the two countries.

An FKI official said, "The business community will also strive to overcome the current economic crisis through Korea-Japan economic cooperation," adding, "In particular, the FKI will do its utmost together with the Japan Business Federation (Keidanren) to strengthen economic cooperation and improve relations between the two countries."
