"Why Wake Me Up While Sleeping?" - 20-Year-Old Sentenced to Prison for Attempting to Kill Roommate After Being Scolded and Having Cigarette Butt Thrown at Him

"Why Wake Me Up While Sleeping?" - 20-Year-Old Sentenced to Prison for Attempting to Kill Roommate After Being Scolded and Having Cigarette Butt Thrown at Him A man in his 20s who attempted to kill a friend he lived with after being scolded for waking him up early in the morning was sentenced to prison.

[Asia Economy Culture Young Intern Reporter] A man in his 20s was sentenced to prison for stabbing a friend he lived with with a weapon after being scolded for turning on the light and waking him up after returning home early in the morning.

The Criminal Division 2 of the Gangneung Branch of Chuncheon District Court sentenced 25-year-old A, who was indicted on charges of attempted murder, to three years in prison.

A was caught by the police after stabbing his friend B, who he lived with, while B was asleep in a villa in Ponam-dong, Gangneung-si, Gangwon Province, last January.

On the same day, around 1 a.m., after returning home, A turned on the light and ate, but was scolded by B for waking him up, and when B even threw a cigarette butt, A committed the crime.

According to the police investigation, A committed the crime after returning home early in the morning on the day of the incident, eating, and being scolded by B for waking him up.

The two had been living together for several months as university classmates, but frequent quarrels arose due to different lifestyles, and it is known that the conflict deepened because A felt ignored and scolded by B, who borrowed money for internet gambling funds and other reasons.

The court explained the sentencing reason, stating that although A amicably settled with the victim and the victim did not want punishment, “after the crime, A monitored the victim for more than seven hours, preventing the victim from leaving the crime scene, which posed a very high risk of death.”
