[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] Asiana Airlines is resuming its educational donation volunteer group activities, which had been halted for two years due to COVID-19.
On the 17th, Asiana Airlines held an aviation career lecture for 24 students from Mapo Middle School at the National Aviation Museum, marking the first activity since the resumption.
The first lecturer, First Officer Ma Dae-woo, an A380 pilot, gave a lecture using various photos and videos covering ▲study methods to become a pilot ▲the actual duties of flight crew ▲the advantages of working as an airline employee.
The second lecturer, Cabin Crew Deputy Manager Lee Mi-hee, composed her talk with content that was genuinely helpful and of interest to the students, including ▲understanding flight attendant duties ▲the benefits of being a flight attendant who can travel the world ▲what is needed to become a flight attendant, which received great responses.
Asiana Airlines plans to expand lectures to more schools and students in the future, starting with this lecture. First Officer Ma, who gave the lecture that day, said, “I was excited to restart the educational donation lectures that had been suspended for over two years due to COVID-19,” and added, “I will do my best to continue sharing dreams and hopes with the students.”
Founded in 2013, the Asiana Airlines Educational Donation Volunteer Group consists of employees with aviation expertise such as active flight crew, cabin crew, aircraft maintenance engineers, and flight operations managers. As the industry’s first specialized educational donation volunteer group, it has conducted a total of 3,367 lectures for 304,696 young people since its launch. In recognition of these achievements, it won the Educational Donation Award for three consecutive years from 2014 to 2016 and was inducted into the Educational Donation Award Hall of Fame in 2017.
Additionally, Asiana Airlines plans to operate the educational donation volunteer group and establish social contribution activity plans under the leadership of the newly established ESG Management Team, created to foster a social contribution culture aligned with ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management philosophy. As the first step of this change, the volunteer group size was expanded from 125 to 180 members, and a volunteer orientation was held to review the lecture curriculum and reaffirm the group’s commitment to new activities.
