Ministry of Unification "No Response on Receipt of North Korea's Notification"

[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] The Ministry of Unification announced that on the 16th at 5 p.m., the South-North hotline closing call was conducted normally, but the North did not provide a clear response regarding the receipt of the notification containing the proposal for working-level talks.

During the closing call, our side repeatedly inquired about the North's intention to receive the notification concerning inter-Korean quarantine cooperation, but the North ended the call without explicitly expressing whether they had received it.

Earlier that day at 11 a.m., the government attempted to send a notification to the North through the Inter-Korean Joint Liaison Office, containing a proposal for working-level talks related to COVID-19 quarantine cooperation, but the North did not clarify whether they had received it. The South also inquired again in the afternoon.

The notification is issued under the name of Minister Kwon Young-se of the Ministry of Unification, and the recipient is Kim Yong-chol, head of the United Front Department of the North.
