The minister held the inauguration ceremony at 3 p.m. at the Sejong Ministry of SMEs and Startups building. Minister Lee was appointed on the 12th after completing the confirmation hearing on the 11th. It is reported that over the past weekend, he reviewed the issues pointed out during the hearing and took care of matters concerning the entire ministry.
At the inauguration ceremony, Minister Lee said, "Although the time was short, during the past four weeks preparing for the confirmation hearing, I felt both pride and regret about the Ministry of SMEs and Startups' projects," adding, "We will make the projects that are doing well even better, and for those with shortcomings, we will gather wisdom together to improve them."
He also emphasized, "The most urgent task for our ministry is to help the complete recovery of small business owners and self-employed individuals," and stated, "We will faithfully execute the supplementary budget for their loss compensation and mobilize all policy tools available to our ministry, such as low-interest loans, reemployment and re-startup support, and strengthening social insurance and mutual aid support, to assist small business owners' independence and re-challenge."
Minister Lee continued, "We will eliminate regulations that hinder innovation and promote globalization," and said, "Through strengthening global competitiveness, we will support the export of small and medium enterprises and the unicorn growth of venture companies."
He added, "We will correct long-standing chronic issues such as delivery prices and technology theft to create conditions where fair prices are received," and "We will also support the digital transformation and smart manufacturing innovation of small and medium enterprises and small business owners."
