[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] With the European Union (EU) announcing the introduction of the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) and 'carbon neutrality' emerging as a global issue, Gyeonggi-do is stepping up to support the overseas market entry of carbon-neutral leading companies within the province.

Gyeonggi-do and the Gyeonggi-do Economic Science Promotion Agency announced on the 16th that they will hold the "2022 Gyeonggi-do Type Carbon Neutral Corporate Support Online Export Consultation" for about ten days from the 17th to the 27th at the Gyeonggi-do Digital Trade Consultation Room.

This export consultation is designed to support promising companies in the province in pioneering export routes amid the global push for decarbonization policies, aiming to nurture them as companies leading the carbon-neutral era.

A total of 120 promising eco-friendly and decarbonization companies selected through a public contest and review process will participate, conducting 1:1 export consultations online and non-face-to-face with 60 local buyers from around the world.

In particular, influential buyers pre-identified through the network of the "Gyeonggi Business Center (GBC, Gyeonggi-do Overseas Trade Office)," operating in 10 locations across 7 countries including Kenya, Vietnam, Thailand, China, the United States, and Malaysia, will participate.

A construction company with green building technology located in Nairobi, Kenya, is scheduled to consult with local eco-friendly building material companies and air purification equipment firms in the province, expected to create a synergy effect in realizing carbon neutrality.

The province plans to provide comprehensive support to help participating companies smoothly develop sales channels, including buyer matchmaking, interpretation support, and consultation room operation.

Kim Tae-hyun, Director of the Foreign Trade Division, said, "As the need for carbon neutrality grows stronger, this export consultation will serve as an opportunity for promising companies in the province, who have worked hard for eco-friendly and decarbonization management despite difficult conditions, to pioneer new markets and expand their reach."
