[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-ju] As North Korea's COVID-19 prevention situation worsens, the Korea Medical Association (KMA) has expressed its willingness to cooperate in humanitarian aid.

On the 16th, the KMA stated, "The COVID-19 pandemic is a fatal factor threatening human life and health, taking precedence over complex international relations," and added, "The KMA actively welcomes the Ministry of Unification's position on rapid response and practical assistance from a humanitarian perspective."

North Korea disclosed its COVID-19 prevention situation for the first time on the 12th. From the end of last month until the 15th, there were approximately 1,213,550 fever patients, of whom 648,630 have recovered, and the cumulative death toll is reported to be 50.

The KMA emphasized, "COVID-19 is already a global health crisis requiring international cooperation," and stated, "As professionals who respect the dignity of human life and the value of a healthy life, the KMA will work closely with the government to provide the best support for North Korea's prevention situation."
