[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Sixty-four newly appointed public officials in Seongbuk-gu reaffirmed their initial commitment as public servants in Seongbuk-dong, a place rich in historical culture.
To enhance attachment and pride in the region and to help understand the overall district administration, the district arranged an opportunity to explore the 'Roofless Museum' Seongbuk-dong Historical and Cultural District, beloved by Korea's old literati, which received great enthusiasm from the trainees.
They visited the old house of Hyegok Choi Sun-woo, a representative cultural heritage of Seongbuk-dong, the urban temple Gil-sangsa of Monk Beopjeong, and viewed the exhibition at the Korean Traditional Stone Museum, a special museum located on Daesagwan-ro.
After the tour, one newly appointed public official said, "It was a meaningful time to study by visiting local landmarks and to build bonds and communicate with colleagues appointed together."
A district official stated, "For local government officials to perform their duties well, they must be in tune with the region and understand the field," adding, "We hope this served as an opportunity to tour Seongbuk-gu's rich historical and cultural heritage and foster pride in the region and a mindset as public servants."
Seongbuk-gu conducted essential job training for newly appointed employees in the first half of this year over two days, May 12 and 13, including ▲introduction to major district policy projects, ▲basic public official training, ▲service education, ▲welfare guidance, ▲integrity and proactive administration training, and ▲kindness and empathetic communication.
The era of visible radio has opened in Gangseo-gu, Seoul.
Gangseo-gu, Seoul (Mayor Noh Hyun-song) announced the operation of a 'Visible Radio Studio' where residents can produce video content and engage in personal broadcasting such as YouTube and podcasts.
According to the '2021 Elementary and Secondary Career Education Survey' announced by the Ministry of Education last January, creators such as YouTubers and BJs ranked fourth among elementary students' future career aspirations, reflecting high social interest in personal media.
In response, the district created the 'Visible Radio Studio' at the Gangseo-gu Video Media Center, allowing residents to easily access and experience media from video production to broadcasting, and began renting it out to residents starting May 1.
The studio is equipped with video and audio equipment for personal broadcasting, enabling the production of various content such as YouTube and podcasts, and supports not only recorded production but also real-time broadcasting to communicate with viewers.
Up to seven people, including hosts, guests, and production staff, can use the studio. For residents who find equipment use difficult, training sessions are held at 2 p.m. on the first and third Tuesdays of each month.
Rental is available to Gangseo-gu residents, workers, or students located in Gangseo-gu, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays, for up to four hours per day. However, prior equipment training is required to rent the studio.
The cost is 5,000 KRW per hour, and rentals for commercial or political purposes are prohibited.
Applications can be submitted by downloading the application form from the Gangseo-gu Video Media Center website under 'Space Guide - Space Rental,' filling it out, and submitting it in person or by email.
Except for cases where studio rental is difficult due to internal broadcasting or filming conditions, the studio will be open to residents as much as possible and will also be used as a youth career experience program and a community communication space.
A district official said, "We expect residents to communicate more closely by sharing news through the Visible Radio Studio," and added, "We hope people will challenge themselves as one-person creators in the studio."
Gangdong-gu will begin operating the Book Cafe Library 'Dadok Dadok (多讀茶篤)' Gubeundari Station Branch (6th branch) starting on the 17th.
The Book Cafe Library 'Dadok Dadok (多讀茶篤)' is a 'Gangdong-style complex cultural space' where people meet and communicate through books and tea, as its name suggests. Starting with the first branch opened in September 2020, branches 2 through 5 opened sequentially in 2021. This year, the newly opened Gubeundari Station 6th branch and Gangil-dong 7th branch are planned to open.
The Gubeundari Station branch leverages its proximity to the subway station and high foot traffic to create a 'shared library where everyone's interests come together,' where anyone can comfortably come to read books, study, or work individually, and sometimes engage in activities with others gathered at the library.
The space features a 'Bookstore Rest Area' with long desks for reading, an 'Imagination Stage' that transforms from a children's reading area into a stage during events, a 'Book Playground' with freely arranged chairs to stimulate imagination, and a self-service corner 'Bookstore Maru' where users can make coffee and borrow or return books themselves, breaking away from the rigid atmosphere of traditional libraries and enhancing user convenience and freedom.
Additionally, about 2,400 books across various fields, from children's and elementary books to literature, adult hobbies, and practical books, are stocked in different areas to satisfy the reading desires of all district residents.
A district official said, "We are continuously expanding various reading culture infrastructures such as public libraries, book cafe libraries, and smart libraries so that residents can receive mental healing through reading anytime and anywhere," adding, "In particular, the book cafe libraries, created considering the characteristics of each location and users, are receiving great love."
