Korea Federation of SMEs Gwangju Jeonnam Delivers 'Policy Tasks' to Association Head Candidates

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] The Gwangju-Jeonnam Regional Headquarters of the Korea Federation of SMEs recently conveyed small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) policy tasks to candidates for metropolitan government heads.

The Gwangju-Jeonnam Headquarters of the Federation of SMEs announced on the 15th that it visited the election offices of Ju Ki-hwan, the People Power Party candidate for Gwangju mayor, Kang Ki-jung of the Democratic Party, and Kim Young-rok, the Democratic Party candidate for Jeonnam governor, to deliver the "8th Local Election Gwangju-Jeonnam SME Policy Tasks."

Lee Jung-hyun, the People Power Party candidate for Jeonnam governor, is scheduled to receive the tasks next week.

In preparation for the 8th nationwide simultaneous local elections, the Federation of SMEs has identified a total of 24 policy tasks since last year targeting SMEs, small business owners, and industry-specific cooperatives in the Gwangju-Jeonnam region to revitalize the local economy and restore growth momentum for SMEs.

The main core tasks include ▲expanding purchases of local SME products by institutions relocated to innovation cities ▲enacting ordinances and supporting improvements in working conditions to respond to the Serious Accident Punishment Act ▲supporting the construction of smart joint logistics centers for SME cooperatives ▲utilizing SME cooperative purchasing systems by local governments and public institutions and introducing a local product purchase disclosure system ▲supporting the construction of a joint exhibition and sales center for specialty products in the Yeosu Ocheon Industrial Complex ▲and creating resource circulation specialized complexes for carbon neutrality.

Im Kyung-jun, chairman of the Gwangju-Jeonnam SME Association, said, “Due to the recent surge in global raw material prices and the prolonged impact of COVID-19, SMEs and small business owners are going through a more difficult time than ever before. I hope that the policy tasks proposed today will be reflected in the economic development pledges of the 8th local government administration so that our region’s SMEs and small business owners can regain vitality and the local economy can be revitalized.”
