[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Shin Dong-ho] Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, is operating the May non-face-to-face ‘5·18 Walking Challenge’ as part of ‘11th is Walking Day’ to promote citizens' health through walking practice activation.
According to Seo-gu on the 11th, this challenge was prepared to commemorate the spirit of the democratization movement by walking 51,800 steps in celebration of the 42nd anniversary of the May 18 Democratization Movement this year.
Anyone who is a resident of Seo-gu or works at a workplace located in Seo-gu can participate.
The operation period is 10 days from the day to the 20th, and among those who achieve a total of 51,800 steps (limited to 10,000 steps per day), 100 people will be selected by lottery to receive mobile gift certificates.
The participation method for the challenge is to install the WalkOn app → join the Gwangju Seo-gu walking community → select ‘Reserve’ or ‘Participate’ on the challenge screen → after achieving the target number of steps, proceed to ‘Apply’.
Seo-gu is also conducting an event until the end of this month where 200 people will be selected by lottery from those who join the WalkOn (app) ‘Gwangju Seo-gu Community’ to receive mobile gift certificates, and currently, the number of members has reached about 3,000, showing great response.
A Seo-gu Public Health Center official said, “We plan to operate various walking programs such as first-come-first-served walking, walking along walking trails, and donation challenges in the future,” and added, “We hope many citizens enjoy walking using WalkOn.”
