Song Young-gil: "Chadwick School Attended by Han Dong-hoon's Daughter Was Established During My Term as Incheon Mayor"

[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Ju-yeon] Song Young-gil, the Democratic Party of Korea's candidate for Seoul mayor, said on the 11th, "Chadwick International School in Songdo, Incheon, which became controversial as the daughter of Minister of Justice Han Dong-hoon attends, is a school I attracted when I was the mayor of Incheon."

On the same day, Song appeared on CBS Radio's 'Kim Hyun-jung's News Show' and explained his first pledge, 'Attracting the 5th UN Headquarters to Seoul.'

He said, "If we attract the UN headquarters, it will create foreign investment and 20,000 international relations jobs, and it will be an opportunity to develop into a MICE industry and financial hub." He added, "Especially when UN international diplomats come, the number of international schools for educating their children will greatly increase, opening opportunities for children in Seoul to receive global education."

Chadwick International School in Songdo, Incheon, is a branch of an American school that opened in September 2010, established during Song's tenure as mayor of Incheon.

Song said, "It was very popular," and added, "Of course, some progressive media said it was too expensive." He emphasized, "They say 30 to 40 million won is expensive, but for affluent families, it is much cheaper than studying abroad. In fact, if you go abroad and the mother follows or become a 'gireogi' couple, how much more difficult is it for the family? Considering those costs, commuting from the family home while receiving the same environment as in the U.S., with Americans directly teaching, results in much higher satisfaction and better outcomes."
