Over 1,800 Taekwondo Practitioners from 18 Cities and Counties in Gyeongnam Gather in Geochang
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Geochang-gun, Gyeongnam Province, will hold the '31st Gyeongnam Association President's Cup and the 1st Preliminary Evaluation for Selecting Gyeongnam Representatives for the 103rd National Sports Festival Taekwondo Competition' at Geochang-gun Gymnasium on May 14-15 and May 21, for a total of three days.
Hosted by the Gyeongsangnam-do Taekwondo Association and organized by the Geochang-gun Taekwondo Association, this competition will feature about 1,800 athletes and officials from 18 cities and counties in Gyeongnam across elementary, middle, high school, and general divisions competing to showcase their skills.
On the first and second days, competitions will be held by weight class and team sparring divided into elementary, middle, and high school divisions, along with the first selection round for Gyeongnam representatives. Athletes who will represent Gyeongnam at the National Sports Festival will be selected, and on the final day, a Poomsae competition will be held for participants with a Kukkiwon 1st Dan (Poom) or higher qualification.
This event will feature a special performance by the Kukkiwon Taekwondo Demonstration Team, renowned as the world's most prestigious. Kukkiwon President Lee Dong-seop and Gyeongnam Sports for All Association President Kim Oh-young will visit the competition venue.
Lee Ji-eun, Director of the Sports Facilities Business Office, stated, "We will thoroughly prepare to ensure the safety and performance improvement of the Gyeongnam Taekwondo athletes visiting Geochang."
