National Library for Children and Young Adults Reads Books Using AR Book Cards Please Read Books Support Relay

[Asia Economy Reporter Seomideum] The National Library for Children and Young Adults is operating various reading culture programs in collaboration with about 6,000 public, small, and school libraries nationwide.

To create a culture where any child can freely say "Please read me a book~" at any library, the library supports the "Please Read Me a Book" campaign and experiential programs. It provides yellow aprons and guides to about 2,500 libraries nationwide and supports an experiential program where picture book authors visit 50 elementary schools.

The "Coding with Stories" project, which began as a pilot in 2019, will be expanded and distributed to 100 public institutions this year. Through a coding education program linked with four picture books, it is a convergent reading program that enhances computational thinking, logical thinking, and creativity. This year, a contest will be held for children participating in the program.

The National Library for Children and Young Adults is developing convergent content linked to "books" in the 5G era and distributing it to public, small, and school libraries nationwide. It produces and distributes nationwide public, small, and school libraries with ▲ AR book cards, which collect 15 types of augmented reality-based play-themed learning and post-reading activities targeting librarian-recommended books, and ▲ 16 augmented reality play cards that allow children to meet the protagonists of world classic novels and Korean classical literature in a friendly way. In addition, the National Library for Children and Young Adults offers direct experiences with immersive content such as AR musicals, AR missions, AR fairy tale books, and MR fantasy fairy tales.

Furthermore, to be used when operating reading programs in libraries or in after-school care classrooms, a demand survey is being conducted for the distribution of reading materials for book reading (twin ring books and reading activity support materials), and a total of 1,000 sets will be distributed.

A representative of the National Library for Children and Young Adults stated, "We will continue to make efforts with libraries nationwide so that children and young adults can form proper reading habits through enjoyable and creative reading experiences with books."
