[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] “If we think again before purchasing, reuse and share, and once more separate waste correctly, we can live in harmony with the Earth.”
Residents of Wolsan 4-dong, Nam-gu, Gwangju, are launching the ‘3-3 Resource Circulation Village Practice Day’ project.
According to Nam-gu on the 10th, residents have started a campaign called ‘3-3 Resource Circulation Village Practice Day,’ gathering recyclable waste in front of the community welfare center every second and fourth Tuesday of the month.
‘3-3’ signifies a life practicing three “re” actions?‘rethink, reuse, recycle’?to protect the global environment.
This project is a collaboration between the Nam-gu Volunteer Center and the Wolsan 4-dong Community Welfare Center, carried out as a resident-led initiative to efficiently recycle waste resources and realize a carbon-neutral society.
At the core of this campaign is a ‘waste trading platform’ that uses artificial intelligence technology to manage comprehensive data on household waste and rewards residents who collect recyclable resources according to their value.
Recently, the Nam-gu Volunteer Center and Wolsan 4-dong Community Welfare Center installed a resource collection robot device in front of the community welfare center, and signed an agreement with Superbin Co., Ltd., the company that installs and operates unmanned collection machines, finalizing cash rewards for recyclable resources.
When village residents deposit recyclable waste such as transparent PET bottles and cans collected from their homes and daily surroundings into the resource collection robot device, they receive points which can later be exchanged for cash.
The ‘3-3 Resource Circulation Village Practice Day’ is regularly held from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on the second and fourth Tuesdays of every month, and residents can also engage in recycling activities outside the designated dates at any time.
A representative of the Wolsan 4-dong Community Welfare Center stated, “By using artificial intelligence technology for recycling collection, we aim to increase residents’ participation in daily practice activities and make the village a leader in environmental protection and resource circulation.”
