[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-ju] Catholic University St. Vincent's Hospital announced on the 10th that Professor Lee Seung-ju of the Department of Urology has been elected as the president of the Korean Society for Genitourinary Infections.


Professor Lee is actively engaged in the development of urology both domestically and internationally, serving as the vice president of the Asian Association of Urogenital Infection and Inflammation (AAUS), head of the national project team of the Korean Urological Association, chairman of the Microbiome and CPPS Committee of the Korean Prostate Society, and expert advisory member on sexually transmitted infections at the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency.


Professor Lee stated, "I will establish a surveillance system for antibiotic resistance in urinary tract infections and sexually transmitted infections, which currently threaten public health, and further develop the society through close cooperation with related domestic and international organizations."


Professor Lee's term is two years. Founded in 2003, the Korean Society for Genitourinary Infections contributes to improving public health by presenting diagnostic and treatment guidelines through academic research activities on urinary tract infections and sexually transmitted infections, and proposing rational policies for national health.
