Suwon City Provides 300,000 KRW for Transportation to Job-Seeking Youth

[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Suwon City in Gyeonggi Province will provide 300,000 KRW to young people preparing for employment.

On the 10th, Suwon City announced that it will recruit 197 candidates by the 23rd of this month for the "Employment Preparation Youth Transportation Expense Support Project," which supports transportation cards (Cheong Card) loaded with 300,000 KRW to ease the financial burden of job-seeking youth.

The eligibility criteria are young people aged 19 to 34 (born between January 1, 1987, and December 31, 2003) residing in Suwon as of the recruitment start date (May 9) who are preparing for employment and are members of households with a median income of 120% or less (based on the 2022 National Health Insurance premium calculation). Additionally, 18-year-olds preparing for employment after graduating from high school can also apply.

Selected youth will receive a Cheong Card, a bus and subway exclusive transportation card, loaded with 300,000 KRW. The card can be used until December 31 of this year.

Employed individuals and current or leave-of-absence students are excluded from eligibility. However, those working part-time for 35 hours or less per week, students enrolled in cyber universities or Korea National Open University, expected graduates (by February 2023), or students on leave or deferral for employment preparation can apply by submitting proof of job-seeking activities such as employment contracts or interview confirmation letters.

Applications can be submitted through the integrated job support project application system.

Suwon City will notify selected youth individually on June 13 and send the Cheong Card by registered mail.
