On the day, Justin Hurwitz said, "I am very honored to receive the Jecheon Film Music Award and am delighted to attend the Jecheon International Music Film Festival held this summer."
Justin Hurwitz is scheduled to perform a special concert at the 18th Jecheon International Music Film Festival, which will be held for six days from August 11 to 16 throughout Jecheon City.
Having majored in composition and orchestration at Harvard, Justin Hurwitz composed the music for all films directed by Damien Chazelle and has received honors at the American Academy Awards, British Academy Awards, and Critics' Choice Awards for 'La La Land,' 'Whiplash,' and 'First Man.' Notably, at the 2017 Golden Globe Awards and Academy Awards, he made history by winning both Best Original Song and Best Score for 'La La Land.'
The Jecheon International Music Film Festival has awarded the Jecheon Film Music Award since 2006 to 2016 to film composers who have left a significant mark on Korean film music. Starting this year, the scope has been expanded to honor music directors who are globally influential and have been greatly loved by domestic audiences.
