[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] Hong Joon-pyo, the People Power Party candidate for mayor of Daegu, expressed opposition on the 9th to the nomination of former lawmaker Yoon Hee-sook for the Incheon Gyeyang by-election. Although Hong did not directly name Yoon, he declared his refusal based on "principles."

On that day, Hong stated on social media (SNS), "There must be principles in a political party's nomination," adding, "The cause of the previous general election defeat was an unprincipled nomination." He continued, "She resigned from her lawmaker position due to allegations of real estate speculation not long ago, yet she criticizes the party leader and Ahn Cheol-soo's decision not to run in Incheon, mistakenly overestimating her status. If the party grants a covert nomination to someone with no ties to Incheon and she threatens to leave, it seems inappropriate. I hope the circulating rumors are false, but if she demands a nomination by threatening to attend the inauguration ceremony or tries to deceive again by invoking a non-existent Yoon-shim (尹心), such behavior is not normal."

Additionally, Hong said, "The recent abusive nomination practices in some local areas during local elections have gone too far," and added, "Now that we are the ruling party, I hope the party establishes principles and responds with more seriousness."
