[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] Silla University successfully concluded the ‘K-Culture Experience Program’ held to introduce Korean traditional culture and support adaptation to study abroad life for international students.
The International Exchange Office of Silla University conducted a variety of events on the 28th at the Cultural Etiquette School in Gijang-gun, Busan, for 36 Chinese international students, including ▲Hanbok wearing experience ▲traditional greeting etiquette ▲basic manners education ▲Samulnori ▲a trip to Ganjeolgot.
Although the international students felt awkward experiencing unfamiliar Korean culture, as the program continued, they relaxed and learned about Korean culture in a lively atmosphere, taking photos and engaging actively.
The international students dressed in traditional gat hats and beautiful hanbok, which sparked a craze through Korean dramas, and spent time learning Korean manners and greeting methods while sitting cross-legged.
They learned the origin of Samulnori, which is performed with four traditional Korean percussion instruments?kkwaenggwari, janggu, buk, and jing?and experienced understanding Korean sentiment by playing the instruments themselves.
Chinese international student Kim Ryeo said, “I was deeply impressed by Korean culture that respects elders and prioritizes consideration for others, and I was amazed by the national character that creates such wonderful and exciting performances using only percussion instruments,” adding, “I want to participate in various experiential events in the future to experience and understand Korean culture more deeply.”
Kim Hyung-geun, head of the International Exchange Office, said, “As we enter the phase of daily life recovery, I am glad to have the opportunity to experience Korean culture with international students and promote Korea,” and added, “We will strive to create various exchange platforms that will invigorate international students.”
