Jeonnam Fire Department Conducts Special Training on '119 Drone Operation Process'

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Jeonnam Fire Headquarters announced that it conducted the "4th Disaster Response 119 Drone Operation Course Special Training" from the 2nd to the 4th.

This training course was held to strengthen on-site response capabilities such as initial information gathering at disaster sites using drones and searching for victims through real-time monitoring.

Twenty firefighters from 20 fire stations in the province participated in the training, which covered ▲basic and advanced drone theory ▲drone operation through simulation ▲flight practice and disaster site information collection ▲search and rescue techniques.

Currently, fire drones are being used to search for missing persons in mountainous areas and inland waters, as well as to perform tasks such as command control and situation management and supervision during fires.

In fact, since 2018, fire drones have been deployed to a total of 233 various disaster sites including fire scenes, rescue, search, and training exercises, carrying out life-saving activities.

Seo Seungho, head of the Jeonnam Fire Academy, said, “In the future, the success or failure of disaster response may depend on the use of drones for detecting hazardous materials and measuring radiation,” adding, “We are aiming to deploy fire drones to all fire stations in the province and will do our best to train operational personnel.”
