[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] The government has decided to resume visa-free entry at Jeju and Yangyang International Airports starting from the 1st of next month.

On the 4th, the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters received a report from the Ministry of Justice and announced that visa-free entry to Jeju and visa-free entry for foreign group tourists at Yangyang Airport will be resumed from June 1 to revitalize the regional economy.

Accordingly, nationals of countries excluding 24 countries such as Iran, Sudan, Syria, Cuba, Afghanistan, Iraq, Nigeria, Egypt, Senegal, Bangladesh, Uzbekistan, Nepal, and Myanmar, as announced by the Minister of Justice, will be able to stay in Jeju Island for up to 30 days without a visa.

The resumption of visa-free entry to Jeju Island comes after a suspension of 2 years and 4 months since February 4, 2020, when it was halted to block overseas inflow of COVID-19.

Additionally, starting next month, group tourists of five or more people holding Vietnamese, Filipino, or Indonesian nationality, recruited through designated travel agencies in Gangwon Province, will be able to travel in Gangwon Province and the Seoul metropolitan area for 15 days without a visa when entering through Yangyang International Airport.

This applies only when using the same flight for both entry and exit, and this measure will also be applied to Mongolia starting from October 1.
