[Muan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Oh Hwan-joo] Lee Jeong-woon, the Democratic Party of Korea's preliminary candidate for Muan County Governor in Jeonnam, presented policy pledges for the Namak and Oryong new towns under the motto of "Creating a livable city worthy of a new town."
On the 4th, through a press release, the candidate announced 14 pledges across three core tasks based on the vision of "City of Education, Safe City, City with Rest," stating, "We will redesign Namak and Oryong new towns into happy cities."
He first said, "So far, Namak and Oryong new towns have focused only on external growth and failed to properly reflect the voices of residents who desire the true essence of a new town," adding, "We will complete a new town where everyone wants to live by creating a pleasant living environment including education and safety."
He also stated, "Regarding the long-awaited issue of establishing a high school, we will employ all possible methods such as relocation and establishment to make it visible as soon as possible, ensuring the full learning rights of children."
He promised to develop elite sports infrastructure as a tourism resource.
He expressed his intention to build a dedicated youth soccer stadium and an indoor baseball practice facility, utilizing them as training sites to create a new model for tourism and regional economic revitalization.
To solve the chronic parking and stopping difficulties in Namak New Town, he proposed highly executable policies such as installing shared parking lots in single-family housing areas, opening public facilities around apartments, and introducing a smart bicycle system to facilitate movement to key parking lots, drawing attention.
He also revealed plans for a "safe city, city with rest," including expanding CCTV installation, creating a dog playground using urban parks, expanding spaces for community sports, reorganizing the Namchangcheon waterfront park, and establishing rooftop gardens in apartment complexes.
The candidate said, "These pledges summarize the efforts and concerns shared with residents during my eight years of legislative activities," appealing for support by stating, "I will realize administrative services that residents can feel and that can practically change their lives."
