'Jang Minho and Jeong Dongwon's Friendship Trip'... Falling for the Charm of Gangwon Tourism Regional Tourism Revitalization Entertainment Content (TV Chosun) [Gangwon-do Tourism Foundation]

[Asia Economy Reporter La Young-cheol] With the lifting of social distancing measures and the resumption of travel by tourists who had been restricted for a long time, the Gangwon Tourism Foundation is presenting various broadcast content that combines travel and entertainment across the entire Gangwon Province.

The foundation has selected five cities and counties in the Gangwon peace region (Cheorwon, Hwacheon, Yanggu, Inje, Goseong) and four cities and counties in the southern region (Yeongwol, Jeongseon, Taebaek, Samcheok) as the spearhead for revitalizing tourism in Gangwon.

The first step is the entertainment program "Dongwon-ah, Let's Go Travel," which features a friendship trip of popular trot singers Jang Min-ho and Jeong Dong-won.

The Yeongwol episode, which aired on the 2nd, recorded a high viewership rating of 3.7% (based on the metropolitan area, provided by Nielsen Korea).

In the upcoming broadcasts, the travel stories of Jang Min-ho and Jeong Dong-won visiting Jeongseon, Taebaek, and Samcheok will be featured sequentially.

Seven programs, including "Baek Jong-won Class" and "Men of the Wind," totaling 54 entertainment broadcast contents, are also being prepared.

The foundation plans to implement a broadcast content strategy to discover hidden tourist resources in Gangwon Province and to focus on local areas to revitalize regional tourism.

The Gangwon peace region and southern region each have well-preserved distinctive cultural and industrial heritage.

Based on their pristine natural environment, they are gaining attention as eco-friendly and wellness tourism destinations for relaxation, healing, and mental and physical recovery.

The foundation plans to produce broadcast content themed around camping trips, culinary travels, music journeys, alleys, and traditional market tours to convey the charm and information of local tourism to viewers.

Kang Eui-hyun, Director of Tourism Content, said, "As the COVID-19 situation improves, we are producing various entertainment broadcast contents to highlight the Gangwon peace region and southern region as tourist destinations," adding, "We hope that viewers who watch the broadcasts will actually visit these areas and that local tourism will be revitalized."
